Wendo Joy Shambula is a solo recording and performing Artiste living in Germany.
Born in Kenya, she grew up singing Gospel music in the Church Choir. She did not put much focus on Music after High School, but instead studied Information Technology, doing music on the side as a hobby.
She taught IT in Colleges in Nairobi while singing with and backing up several renowned Musicians both in studio recordings and at live performances. She has worked with the Maroon Commandos Band, Kidum and the Boda Boda Band, the late JC Matata from Burundi,Chumba from Kenya as well as the Jamnazi Africa Band with which she made a tour to Europe in 2011. She later worked with the Hotsounds Band as a lead Singer before starting her solo career and moving to Germany.
Her first album "Subra" was recorded at Indigo Studios by Abbi Nyinza and Kibby. From this album, the song "Jah people" was used as a sound track in a Finnish short Film shot in Kibera by Ari-Pekka Rannisto. The Film won the Award in 2011.
In Germany, she has sang with the Saint Paul's Inspiration Choir under the leadership of Udo Hotten. She has also formed her own Band with which she performs both cover songs and original Music. Her latest single, "NAKUPENDA" was released on February 14th 2017. The song, which was produced by Sav Beats and mixed at Home Town Studios by Moti Ice is in the style of AfroPop.
